Booknerds organised its first queer-themed hangout this LGBTQ+ Pride Month in Rajpur, Dehradun.
Author, musician and entrepreneur Sudipto Das, whose book 'The Broken Amoretti: A Love Story from the Queer World' was the featured book for discussion, joined the hangout at Gulsarai, Dehradun, with an intellectual bibliophile community in attendance.
The Broken Amoretti, which narrates the saga of unrequited love between a lesbian couple, is an unmatched Indian English novel focusing on LGBTQ issues.
Serving as the moderator of the session, Booknerds co-founder Rohan Raj opened the session with a thoughtful introduction of the author and the featured book, followed by an in-depth conversation with Sudipto Das about the genesis of the book, the writing process and its impact in contemporary literature. A conversation about LGBTQ+ inclusivity in literature followed with inputs by the booknerds community. A lively Q & A session between the author and the audience ensued that opened the stage for an inquisitive chat about LGBTQ+ literature.
The session was a culmination of discussing and celebrating queer writing, interactive activities, and encouraging the audience to engage in queer literarure. Towards the end of the session, Booknerds co-founder Neha Raj presented the discussants with Booknerds mementoes and gift hampers from Nchanting Fest, a Dehradun-based scented candle brand and the Gifting Partner for the day, as a token of gratitude. The event concluded with a book signing, in collaboration with Book World as the official Book Store Partner for the session.
